Farewell to Soutport

After a sudden decision from the management of Pleasureland to close everything excluding the Funhouse the Marshals were thrown into a panic as nobody seemed to know what would happen with this rally that is the most popular rally in area 1 and has been running for 14 years.

With some extra organising and phone calls from Joan the rally went ahead but on a slightly different format from previous years. This year we stayed in the funhouse for the whole evening and instead of fish and chips we had pie and peas or pizza. Both of which went down well with everyone.

During Saturday many of us took advantage of Southport's wide range of shops and all came back loaded down with our purchases, had a quick sleep and then we were raring to go for the evening ahead.

Father Christmas still managed to find us in the funhouse and came in loaded down with pressies for the small and not so small children. Flag was held after Father Christmas left and the marshals who have run this rally for 14 years were awarded with the usual ‘piece of plastic’ for their efforts.
As one of the children that has grown up attending this rally it is a shame not to see it on next year's rally programme and will be missed by all 40ish ‘vans that attend. But a big THANKS must go to Joan and Allen and Johnny and Pauline for all their efforts over the years.
