Again the AGM is upon us a long weekend full of entertainment, fun and competitions. After a three hour car journey we arrived at Newark showground and we were greeted by Alan Druce and the welcoming team. As we arrived late on Thursday we set up, ate then went to sleep. On Friday Dennis and Marion and their granddaughters came up to complete our little group (Godsell / Crossley /Parsons/Jefferies and Tomlins.
On Friday we ate very well having paella night. Friday evening we had tea and coffee. Vikki was selling her cards and books raising money for her Scout Jamboree for which she thanks all who bought something. Also Mel, Harry & I did the picture competitions where we had to identify celebrity eyes, cartoons, products, sport players and royalties.
On Saturday was the table top sale, also there was Alan doing his encaustic art, I am still amazed by the pictures he creates. Later on in the day the children of our group: - myself, Mel, Nicola, Harry, Vikki, Natalie and Jade played giant Jenga. We had a normal barbeque today which was yummy! Tonight was casino night! We all got chips and we started to gamble (without money of course) it was well fun. Followed by this was a disco and I think they pulled off a good, fun, enjoyable night.

On Sunday was the AGM which was not very fun for children but the parents seemed to find it interesting as they got to express their opinions and thoughts, so it was good for them. For dinner tonight we had a full roast all cooked on the barbeques, I have to admit it was the best roast I have had in a long time. Tonight’s entertainment was the legendary Siobhan and the spectacular band ‘The Choice’. What a voice and humour Siobhan has its incredible and as we were right next to the speakers we got the full throttle. Funny thing we were next to the speakers last year. The tables were judged ours was purple and it was amazing! I think we should have won, but then again so does every table. They all looked spectacular, with blow up parrots bird tables etc.
Monday morning I couldn’t face getting up,(too many late nights, take their toll) so in the end I ended up darting around doing everything at the last minute. We headed over to Flag where we met Siobhan’s adorable little puppy called Elvis he was so sweet. We sat for flag there was a LOT of thank you’s etc. then the competitions came myself, Mel and Harry won the cartoon identify competition, we also came 2nd in the products competition and we won 2 light bulbs and 3 pens so… next came the trophies area 8 had already won the chairman’s challenge from 2005, Dennis won the go - karting which was 2, then dad (Brian) won the digital photographic competition which takes it to 3. Next to my surprise I won the junior photographic competition and the young journalist award which the grand total is 5. So we didn’t do that bad. After this we went down hill as we didn’t win any raffle prizes.
We went home after a great weekend, so massive thanks for a great weekend and looking forward to next year!
Lucy
