plugs in a fixed water tank (export challanger)

Postby Gerard » April 12th, 2009, 6:57 pm

Hello

In my van is a fixed water tank. The drains are closed with red plugs. They first of all leaks in the beginnig, buth when i have to drain the tank they are ferry difficult to come out the drains. On the drain tubes is a kind of a bajonet ring.

My quetion is, what do i wrong, what is the right way to remove the plugs.

Thanks in advance,

Gerard

i am not sure if yours is same but hope this helps.
this is how mine works

The drain has a shoulder that needs to be pushed back to release the red bung. sometimes the shoulder is prevented from being pushed by a clip behind it.
it can be colour coded for hot / cold water or sometimes it is black.

You need to remove the clip then push back the shoulder and at this point push the bung inwards slightly also to help release the seal then pull on the bung and it should come out easily.

If they are forced out they can get deep scratches on them and they will not seal again.
you can buy replacement ones cheaply from caravan shops or online like ebay etc.
