Irish Rallies -  Glen of Aherlow and Killarney

27th May - 16th June 2007

According to the song – It’s a long way to Tipperary - and even further to Killarney, but it was well worth it, two lovely locations for the Ireland Holiday rallies. Both sites were immaculately kept, exceedingly friendly, with extremely helpful owners.

At The Glen of Aherlow site, just south of Tipperary, we were treated to our first Marshal (and helpers) prepared breakfast, the first round of a Mini Olympics competition, and for many, an introduction to an Irish Raffle, where great fun was had by all. The hills of the Vee Pass, between the Galty and Knockmealdown mountain ranges, just to the south of Aherlow, were something that just had to be seen, with brightly coloured rhododendrons in full bloom stretching as far as the eye could see.

The Flemings White Bridge award winning site in Killarney was our home for the second rally, and the Marshals really surpassed themselves with some of the outings that had been arranged, in particular the coach, jaunty car, boat and historic bus trip through the Gap of Dunloe. We had the enjoyment of our second communal breakfast, the final of the Mini Olympics, another fun filled Irish Raffle, and the celebration of two milestone birthdays.

So, let’s say, a really big thank you and round of applause to the Marshals, Len and Dot Field and Ron and Maureen Ward, and to all the ralliers for such a splendid three week holiday rally.
