Willington Rally -  Willington, Beds.

5-8th October 2007

There has been strange goings on in Bedfordshire over the weekend at the Willington rally  A number of members were that desperate that they were seen scouring the bushes for fruit for making alcoholic drinks, Swift Owners don’t drink do they?? Look forward to sampling the end result in the spring. Other members were in reflective mood with their new caravan, very nice it was too.

Some members were giving the ralliers an air display next to the rally field, there was no need to go and see the display at Old Warden two or three miles away, we had our own.

A superb rally expertly marshalled by the Turners and the Horniblews, We arrived to good sunny weather and quite warm to a large level field surrounded by woodland, teeming with wildlife, with deer, squirrels and geese calling in to visit us ( including a nearby airship on the Saturday afternoon.

Saturday the weather was not quite so nice it being cloudy but dry. We spent the evening in good company in the marquee, heating thoughtfully provided by the marshals (we were so warm and comfortable that some members did not want to leave, if the generator had not run out of fuel they might have been there all night) desserts were provided by the marshals they were all excellent and there was a quickie informal quiz.

Sunday was the last flying display at Old Warden this year and some members took advantage of a visit.

All in all an excellent rally, with a good venue with quite a lot to do in the area, We look forward to the next rally marshalled by these marshals, nothing was too much for them in keeping ralliers happy. All four acted above and beyond their duties. Thank you,
Best wishes to Betty Horniblew for her forthcoming operation hope it goes well.
