Markeaton Fireworks

Markeaton, Derbys.

31st Oct - 2nd Nov

These are the results of the rain and foul weather we have had in Derbyshire these past few weeks. The Rally and the company were great, nearly every outfit had to be towed off at the request of the farmer who used his tractor very ably assisted by the "chief hooker upper" Dave Hill assisted by road "Bobbies" Clive and Jill Bevan.

The work done by the Marshals was wonderful - awnings and club tent - heated, a generator for lights and we were on our away on Friday evening for our usual chat and drink. The Saturday although it rained we were able to see the fireworks display from the comfort of our Caravans. It lasted 3/4 of an hour. This was followed by baked potatoes, bean or cheese filling, or both and seconds for those the wanted.

The ladies Rosie & Chris did a wonderful job I believe assisted by Jill. I suppose the men helped apart from serving.

I wish to thank them for their efforts and sense of fun throughout the Rally which was conducted under difficult conditions. To Rosie & David Stone, Chris & Mike Plant our marshals and the other helpers a big thank you.
