It's here - oh yes it is !

Welwyn, Herts

16-18th Jan 2009

We have just returned from a splendid panto rally run by our hardworking Marshals Ron and Maureen Ward and Michael and Maureen Goff. The rally was in a new venue Sherrardswood School which is a private school on the outskirts of Welwyn Garden City set in beautiful surroundings. We also had the use of the ballroom in the Old Manor House. On Friday evening we met for tea/coffee and biscuits and also filled in our requests for either fish and chips, Chinese or Indian.

On Saturday afternoon we went to see Jack and the Beanstalk at the Gordon Craig Theatre, Stevenage. The cast included several familiar faces, David Spinx - Keith Miller from EastEnders and Ben Nicholas - Stingray from Neighbours. Also Paul Laidlaw who always plays such a wonderful dame and this time it was no exception he played Dame Trott and the splendid performance by Daisy the cow.

There were 25 caravans, including several motorhome and, with family and friends, over a 100 tickets were purchased. All this was masterminded by Ron Ward. Martin Roberts and Roger Hook stayed behind to act as security and a big thank you to Ron and Maureen for taking Ann Hook and myself in their car.

When we arrived back Ron and Michael rushed off to pick up the meals. Although the weather forecast was very high winds it was not too bad at night but, during the day, it was dry and bright and sunny. It was a lovely rally and we do hope that Sherrardswood School will let us go back their next year as they had never had a caravan rally there before.
