Bring your Valentine to Royal Barnwell

12-14th February 2010

Barnwell Village Hall, Barnwell, Nr. Oundle, Northants was the best village hall we had been in.The inside was all fitted out with wood doors and floors as well as tables and it also had a well fitted out kitchen. Outside we had a choice of hardstanding or grass. The weather forecast was not very good and we were lucky as we did not have any snow only rain mainly in the night and it was rather cold.

On the Saturday afternoon we were invited to tea/coffee and delicious cakes in the hall. Then back again in the evening for an American supper we were all asked to bring savoury dishes only. All the delicious deserts were provided. We all had to decorate our tables with a St Valentine theme and this was followed by flag. The first time as Marshals were Margaret and Peter Coppenhall who were also celebrating their 50th Swift Rally and the presentation was made by Sharon Horn ACM for Area 5.

Royal Barnwell is a beautiful area with a mixture of ancient and modern architecture. On Saturday we went to the farmers market in Oundle we did not stay out for long as it was so cold.

A very big thank you to Margaret and Peter Coppenhall our first time Marshal and to Phil and Val Metcalf who were assisting them. It was a lovely rally and hopefully we could return there another year in the summer.
