A Flight of Fancy

The gliding centre, Husbands Bosworth airfield

20-23 may 2010

A big thank you to our hard working marshals Dave and Jackie Coller and Phil and Gwen Gordon not forgetting Jasper their delightful 3 month old puppy.

We last went to Husband Bosworth Airfield 10 years ago.   The weather was fantastic and in the high 20’s.  Some of our members did take the opportunity to go up in a glider. The office quoted £25 for a winch launch and £45 for a towed launch.  It was very quiet and lovely to see them gracefully glide through the sky.

We had tea and coffee in the morning and the evening and sampled some lovely cake to celebrate Dave Coller’s birthday. On Saturday evening we had a BBQ supper out in the open and watched the balloons fly by.

We went to Foxton Locks which was very pretty.  Martin walked along the tow path and followed the flight of locks.  We also visited Market Harborough.

At flag on Sunday our Secretary Val Metcalf presented Nigel Fenton with the photography trophy.  By this time it was so hot that we needed shade some of us stayed inside the tea tent for shelter and others came along with umbrella’s and sun shades.

A very big thank to our marshals and to Jasper.
