Cool at Kellington

Kellington Manor Hotel, Kellington, N Yorkshire

29-31 July 2011

This was a new venue for SOC, and was marshalled by our chairman and his wife. A grassy field right beside a pub, with a £2 nightly site fee. It brings a tear to a Yorkshire eye! The first challenge for the marshals was to site the vans on a “slightly undulating” field. Everyone who had been expected (one cancelled) was sited, though it was quite cosy.

We had a warm welcome from the marshals and the sun, which decided to shine brightly. Friday night saw the usual teas and coffees and the less common home made  cake courtesy of Sandra. Future Area 2 marshals please note. Saturday was a free day, and in the evening we had a meal in the pub, which was very well received. There was a mix-up with the entertainment, but the background music meant we could continue to catch up with old friends.

Terry handled the hecklers at flag well, and had a joke as well. All in all, a good weekend, and grateful thanks are due to the marshalling team of Sandra & Terry Milsom, assisted by Kathy & Hamish McIntyre.
