Studley Royal, Ripon

River Laver Holiday Park, Ripon, N Yorkshire

14th - 17th April 2011

Ask a seasoned rallier what makes for a really good rally and the answer will look something like this:

  • A nice site
  • Decent weather
  • An interesting area with lots to see and do
  • Excellent marshals
  • A communal BBQ
  • An enjoyable party
  • A fun competition

We had all this and more - electric hook ups, a newspaper to the van door delivery service, a raffle where everybody won something, the list goes on.

The site was really special – a gently sloping field with grass that would look good on any lawn, edged by a wood and a small river. The loudest noise was the birds singing followed by the burbling water of the river.

It was so nice you didn’t really want to venture out but those who did were able to visit Fountains Abbey, Studley Royal Deer Park and Brimham Rocks not to mention the lovely cathedral in Ripon itself. On the Saturday evening we helped Ray Cox to celebrate his 50th rally. I've never seen so much wine and beer and nibbles - all generously provided by Ray. It was a super night - thanks Ray!

The Sunday was so warm and sunny that no one wanted to leave and quite a few stayed until the close at 4pm.

A perfect rally…..

A big thanks to the marshals Hamish & Cathy McIntyre and David & Mary Potter.
