After getting our passports stamped and getting out of Cornwall we arrived at the rally field at 12.30 p.m., much to our surprise, being the first to arrive, we were welcomed by our Marshals Hedley, Doreen Dave & Jackie. There were just 13 caravans on the rally with one cancellation and new member who phoned on Friday morning for their 1st rally who didn’t find us!!

The weather was marvellous, summer had arrived early. I think everyone got out their barbeque to start the weekend in style. In the evening we got together at the Marshal’s van for a welcome tea & coffee and to put in our orders for the Saturday night meal at the local pub.

Saturday we woke to bright sunshine. Many of us visiting the Wildlife & Wetlands Trust, others walked along the near-by Sharpness to Gloucester canal. In the evening we visited the Tudor Arms to enjoy our basket meal followed by a game of skittles which was enjoyed by all. During the evening Hedley presented Ken and Pam Baldrey with their plaque for 50 rally (although rumour has it, it was actually Ken’s 83rd outing, but it took him a while to find all his plaques!!)

Sunday another beautiful sunny day we gathered for flag at 11.00 a.m. Paul Phillips took flag on behalf of the club thanking the marshals for a super weekend. Ken and Pam completed their celebratory weekend by beating us on the tie-breaker question for the Jackie and Dave’s competition of anagrams of birds.

Thanks to Doreen, Hedley, Jackie & Dave for a smashing weekend.
