Take It Easy at Ellerton Lakes

Ellerton Lakes Caravan Park & Water Sports Centre

Richmond, N Yorks.

16-19th May 2013

After an eventful start en route to this rally, we arrived to a lovely location in North Yorkshire, surrounded by the Dales with many superb villages, Market Towns and places of interest, which we could all enjoy and appreciate using the wealth of information about the local area thoughtfully supplied by the marshals. Indeed, the back of Betty's car looked like the local Tourist Information Office, coupled with a boot sale (the raffle prizes) added for good measure. Everyone took full advantage during the weekend to use free time to explore.

The rally coincided with the celebration of Colin and Betty's 500th Rally, and the welcome was, as always, warm and friendly. On Saturday we were kindly invited by Matthew and Chris Kinsell, Directors of Catterick Caravans, to join them for afternoon refreshments and wine, and what wonderful hosts they were,in fact so much food and wine were offered it seemed as if the American Supper arranged by the marshals that evening would be superfluous, but being Swift Members we rose to the challenge and did not fail.

In the evening we relocated to the local village hall, enjoyed the American Supper and appreciating the celebratory cake and wine kindly supplied by Betty and Colin. The evening was completed by Val Brailsfords brain teasing musical quiz, John Brailsford's humourous recount of Betty and Colin's rallies and presentation of their plaque, and flagpole before departure back to our site, all having enjoyed a super day. Sunday saw the departure of some members, whilst others stayed on for extra days to further enjoy the area. Thanks to the marshals for a super rally in a wonderful location.
