65 Not Out

LydiateParish Hall

Lydiate, Merseyside

13- 16th June 2013

Thursday evening was the usual tea coffee and biscuits with the marshals and a time to catch up with everyone.

On Friday evening the marshals had prepared cheese, biscuits and wine for everybody. This went down well and enabled us all to get together for the evening.

On Saturday the weather was a little kinder than it had been on Friday. We all went out to explore the local area. The NT Formby Point and Southport were nearby and the weather was fantastic for a visit to both. For those wanting some retail therapy and culture Liverpool was the choice.

We all gathered in the hall on site in the evening. Joan & Allen kindly provided a lovely buffet, cake and wine to celebrate Allen's 65th birthday.

As it was also Joan and Allen's 250th rally John Brailsford told us about the contribution they had made to the club since their first rally in 1988.

They had marshalled 56 rallies but as their respective jobs didn't allow them regular weekends off this was quite an achievement. Two of the rallies they marshalled were holiday rallies and 16 were Christmas Party rallies often with up to 40 children to buy presents for.

It was lovely to see their son Andrew on the rally with them again. In their early days he was a regular rallier but now lives on the Isle of Man.

After we had all had plenty to eat Joan hosted a quiz that everyone enjoyed followed by a game of Mr&Mrs. We all had a lovely evening.

On Sunday morning we sat in the sun for tea, coffee and biscuits as Flag had been held the night before.

Thank you very much to Joan & Allen and Johnny & Pauline who did a fantastic job as always.
