Broughton Castle

August 2006

The warm August sunshine glistened on the waters of the moat below. The shimmering reflection of the golden walls of the castle only disturbed by the ripples caused by the passage of the ducks as they slowly paddled along. A gentle breeze rustled the leaves on the trees in the parkland in a scene unchanged for hundreds of years. An aroma of roasting pig wafts in the air and the only sounds are of the chink of glasses and gentle laughter as friends old and new gather to dine. What more idyllic way to spend a weekend. The crowning glory of which was a private, guided tour around the castle itself. A wonderful time for all from the moment of arrival on Thursday, and the usual welcome cup of tea until the time we left on Sunday afternoon.

This was all possible thanks to the hard work of Steve and Sharon (first time marshals) ably assisted by Jeff and Carole. Many thanks to you, the hard work was well worth it and much appreciated by all.
