We were greeted with a very warm welcome by the Wardens at Theobolds Park, Camping and Caravanning Club site when we arrived on Friday evening. Theobolds Park is just a stones throw from the M25 yet in beautiful country side. We were shown to our pitch by a man on a bike and were told by the lady warden that if we knocked him off his bike we would get extra points!!
We went to the hall on site for another warm welcome by our lovely marshals Ron and Maureen Ward and Keith and Val Turner.
Saturday evening we went back to the hall which had been transformed with pumpkins and spiders and all sorts of spooky things. This time the way to the hall was lit by tee lights in glass jars it was like following the yellow brick road.
A lot of us had dressed for the occasion. We had super supper of witches blood and greenish soup with floating bits (tomato and vegetable with bread) Followed by potato in its field jack with wizard fingers roasted (sausages) bats droppings (baked beans) or frogs droppings (peas) and for dessert spider cakes.
Then followed the fancy dress parade and dunking and bobbing apples.
Through Friends Reunited one of my Cubs had found me. Mike and June booked into Theobolds and Ron had told us that the hall had to be open to other caravanners so they came to Friday coffee. I had not seen Mike since he was 8 years old. When we realised that he had a Swift van he joined the SOC and Maureen Goff presented them with their first rally bar at flag.
Many thanks to our hard working marshals and all the catering helpers.
