Marbury Country Park - Northwich, Ches. July 2006 |

We arrived on Friday evening and the temperature was still in the mid twenties. Tea and coffee was underway and we were offered a hotdog by the marshals before we had even put our legs down.
Saturday lunchtime we had a leisurely boat trip down the canal. We were all very grateful the marshals hadn’t booked the glass top boat. Some of us then went to see the Anderton Boat Lift built in 1875 which was the world’s first and still the UK’s only. It transfers the boats between the river and canal levels which vary by 50 feet.
The BBQ trophy was contested and there were some excellent entries. The joint effort of the Ball and Brice (1st rally) families dressed in 17th century costume were the winners after a very difficult decision by the marshals.
Sunday morning we were provided with fruit, meat, cheese, yogurt, bread and fruit juice for our continental breakfast. The site was beautiful and several members commented that they felt as though they were actually on a continental rally.
I would like to thank the marshals Sharon & Paul Verdon hindered by Ellie and Owen plus Steve & Sue Louch assisted by Emma and Jodie. They worked very hard for us all weekend to make it a very enjoyable rally.
