Tring, Herts November 2006 Christmas Party in Tring (in the mud!) |

Martin and Sue and Dave Street arrived at Tring and the ground was very soft. Sue went out and put the signs up while Martin and Dave pegged the field out. Martin towed most of the vans on.
Michael and Maureen Goff arrived with their caravan loaded with food and large cooking pots, they took one look at the field and stayed in the car park which was must easier for them to unload.
Early Saturday we started decorating the hall. Grateful thanks to Joanne who arrived and started cooking. Joanne and Maureen cooked a delicious 4 course Christmas meal for 50. The meal included a welcome glass of sherry and wine during the evening.
On Friday night it rained so much it filled our fire bucket up. It rained again Saturday night so we knew that we had to find a tractor, the place for that in a village is the local pub. At noon a local farmer arrived with his small tractor so as not to damage the field to much. Martin helped getting the cars married to their vans and the tractor did the rest.
Sharon Horn could not believe that Steve had got stuck and Martin was pulling him out and came rushing out with her camera.
We were also celebrating our 200th rally and Ron Ward did us proud. He mentioned the satellite dish looking for a star and two little white sheep with black faces and legs that followed us everywhere - our two cats Minnie and Mickey. He also mentioned that our first rally at the Vets College was mud and we had to be towed on our 50th was at Barton Clay was mud and we had to be towed off, our 100th Christmas shopping rally we all had to be towed on and off and the first time we marshalled at Aldenham Country Park in the summer we had to be towed on. Our 150th was OK as we were on hard standing. Several people came up to Martin and said don't invite us to your 250th.
It was a great rally and one to remember. Thanks to our very hard working co marshals Michael and Maureen Goff, Sue and Dave Street. To Joanne Goff for all her help and expertise. Dave was standing at the sink with his sleeves rolled up washing up some of the big pans and said there was only a couple of things when I started. Also thanks to Tony Hawkins for acting as DJ and bringing his new P.A. system with 6,000 CD's on his lap top. To Dave Hopkins for bringing sherry glasses and to Rosemary White who is always there when help is needed.
