Dorset Cream Tea Blanford Forum, Dorset 4-7th June 2009

We had a lovely rally in the grounds of Chettle House and the weather was good too.  Chettle Village has a long and interesting history going back a 1000 years. It bought back happy memories for both of us as years ago we used to camp at a friend's farm on the A354 just a few yards away from Chettle. 

We took a trip down memory lane to Sixpenny Handley to buy some on their famous lardy cake only to find that the shop had been turned into a house several years ago. We also went to Blandford Forum Market which is much smaller than it used to be.

The highlight of the rally was a delicious cream team and the scones were made by Barbara Morphy and we all sat out in the sun shine enjoying ourselves.  Dennis and Marion Tomlin also did a good trade of Swift goodies.

Saturday evening we all celebrated Dennis and Marion's Ruby Wedding with wine, food and cake.  It was a lovely evening and we all wished them good luck for the future.

Tony and Cyndy had found an interesting history of Chettle Village from an article in the Daily Mail a couple of years ago we took it in turns to read the article and it mentioned a book written by Joyce Prince call the Enduring Village.  Fortunately our local library has located a copy which will make interesting reading.

David Morphey gave John Rowe a card signed buy all of us and a bottle to celebrate his birthday.  At flag David presented Rachel Goodsell with a plaque for getting 5 signatures on her SOC passport.

A very big thank you to Tony and Cyndy Elkins and Peter and Norman Hinton it was a splendid rally and all your hard work was appreciated.
